Before you put your golf clubs into long-term storage, you need to clean them first in order to keep them in the best condition. Fortunately, it can be easily done at home without costing you much.

What You Need:

• A bucket
• Mild detergent
• An old tooth brush
• An old towel

Step One: mix warm water with a mild detergent in a bucket

Ideally, you want to use a bucket that's large enough to put all your golf clubs at once. The water should be warm, not too hot or too cold, because hot water can loosen the ferrule on your club. Only use enough water to cover the heads of your golf clubs, as the shafts should not be submerged.

Step Two: Submerge your golf club heads in the warm water for several minutes.

Submerge the heads for 5 minutes and let the warm water loosen the dirt a bit. Then, use the old toothbrush to gently clean the grooves of the clubface. If your clubs are extremely dirty, you can submerge them in the soap water for 10 minutes. Be careful and keep the ferrule on your clubs dry.

Step Three: Wash your clubs off with cool water and dry them thoroughly

After you brush your clubheads, rinse them with cool water and dry them immediately after. Make sure they are completely dry before putting them back into your bag.

Step Four (optional): Polish

Metal heads can be polished with a chrome or steel polish. For wood heads, you can apply wood wax. Anyways, follow the manufacturer's instructions.

**
If your clubheads are made from wood, do not submerge them in the warm water. Instead, grab a damp towel and wipe the club surface multiple times. Dry them immediately after cleaning.
